About this Site - A foreword by the Author This site is dedicated to a history of Bitter Lemon, the band from Sheffield England, that became a legend in almost as short a time as it takes to tell the story, and then disappeared, virtually without a trace. Fortunately for us there exist images, recordings, and first hand accounts of the shenanigans of these four energetic young men, as well as the friends they won, lost, cajolled, and generally pestered for money or assistance. It is these few fragments which are presented here for your edification and pleasure. Hopefully as time progresses more information will come to light, from fans, friends and family of the band, from the band members themselves if they can be found, possibly even from you the reader, which will allow this site to grow and flourish as a tribute to that most ephemiral and yet indestructable of things - the British Rock Band. If you have a ticket stub, a photograph, or just an amusing anecdote of the band, please share it with us in this beatiful digital domain that we call the internet (address at bottom of page). Unfortunately due to the repressively anal mindset of the hosts of this site (www.fortunecity.com) no high quality mp3s of Bitter Lemons tunes can be presented here, however we are allowed to use other audio formats. I have shunned the Real Audio file format because of it's poor sound quality and have instead opted for the Windows Media Player file format, which produces compressed audio data almost as listenable as the superlative mp3 format. In order to enjoy these files it may therefore be necessary for you to download the latest version of WindowsMediaPlayer or alternatively if you use Winamp you will need to get the WMACodec. Unfortunately i've also had to zip the files up in order to avoid persecution, so to unzip them you will require winzip, available from www.winzip.com Please enjoy this site, tell your friends about it, pass on the URL : http://members.fortunecity.com/bitterlemon that the Legend of Bitter Lemon will not fade into obscurity, but stand out as a star in the night, a beacon to others seeking their own Legend, as Andy Warhol would say, their own fifteen minutes of fame. But enough! let us progress to The Legend of |
